Flour mills in Calhoun County flourish with new capacity
The Marshall Statesman reports a dense network of floating mills along Calhoun County lines near the rail. Albion, Homer, Battle Creek and nearby towns drive local wheat into flour with modern improvements. A Burington mill project and two New York life insurance agents in town spur economic confidence as the community braces for harvest. Life insurance argues for family provision, citing cases of preserved households in Mississippi and New York, urging residents to insure their families through Mutual Life Insurance of New York and Nautilus Insurance Company via county agents.
