The Press Gangs Take Tom Macdonough's Fate in Liverpool
In June 1869 the American brig Sarah sails from Norfolk to Liverpool where Tom Macdonough is seized by a pirate party posing as townsfolk. He resists, is taken aboard an English frigate, escapes through a river chase, later defeats England at Champlain. The tale blends nautical intrigue with Macdonough’s later fame at Lake Champlain.
