Two Women Arrested in Walton Murder Case

Under Sheriff Beck with Turnkey Mains arrested Mrs. Elizabeth Finch and Mrs. Celia Mather in Walton Eaton county for allegedly murdering a four days old infant. Both women were arraigned before Justice Tillotson and await examination next Tuesday. The case stems from the infant’s death after the mother Mrs. Mather, 19, stayed with Mrs. Finch. post mortem cited strangulation. Neighbors’ suspicions led to arrests and custody in county jail.

The Dulcina Home Conference Pushes Philanthropic Bill

In Marshall a large meeting at H J Winsor’s office elected Judge Ingersoll as chair and W J Dibble as secretary to consider a bill for the Daily Woman's Home Fund. The measure, drafted to meet Mrs Daily's will, would create a non discriminatory home for women aged sixty or more upon a 4100 payment, with a trustees board and 25000 minimum subscription goal.

Calhoun County Medical Society Marks Twentieth Anniversary

The Calhoun County Medical Society held its twentieth anniversary meeting in Albion on January 14 in the college laboratory amphitheatre. Prof. W. J. Herdman spoke on Rheumatism as a factor in nervous diseases and Dr. Haughey presented on Appendicitis, with nearly two hours of group discussion by about fifty physicians. Dr. E. J. Pendell was re-elected president, Dr. Haughey secretary and treasurer, and a banquet followed at the Drs. Palmer home with toasts led by Dr. B. French.
