Faith in Fredonia Diphtheria Cure Fails Arousing Officials

In Fredonia township a diphtheria case remains unresolved as faith healers led by Cox prayed over the patients. After two children fell ill and two doctors were dismissed, the local clerk consulted prosecutors to curb the outbreak and prevent further deaths. A sensational scene followed with prayer meetings in a village schoolhouse and calls to remove alleged spirits from the community. Community reports mention a family attempting to buy a magazine. funds needed led to prayer and a sudden financial return. Nine Cattle Die in Farm Fire at Marenga Chisvary Farm

A large barn on the Chisvary farm along Rice Creek road in Marenga burned yesterday morning. Chris Laher discovered the blaze between 2 and 3 o'clock, freed 150 sheep, and attempted to rescue cattle but nine head perished. Farm implements burned. loss about $2,000, with partial insurance in Citizens' Mutual.
