The Three Brides and the Graveyard Tale

In a paraphrased northern village setting a lone traveler visits an inn near a church yard and encounters a grave-digger who tells the tale of the three brides. Whooping-Cough Fungus Found On Fruit Skins

Dr Tschamer of Gratz reports in the London Sanitary Record that a fungus on aged apples and oranges resembles the organism behind whooping cough. Dark specks on fruit peel, scraped off, form a damp powder of fungal spores. Inhalation of two specks allegedly induced coughing fits and showed similar white corpuscles in sputum.

Oil-Pipe Line Two Hundred and Thirty Miles Long

A seaboard pipe line from Butler, Pennsylvania to Baltimore, Maryland is reportedly to be built next season. The trunk line will run 230 miles with 4.5 foot underground boiler iron pipes, lap-welded and galvanised to resist oil and rust. Capacity about 6000 barrels daily, totaling roughly 2,000,000 barrels per year, operating continuously. Construction to start after winter, with completion planned in summer. Rumors say Standard Oil may lay a competing line.
