Republicans lead Maryland outside Baltimore, with 51,059 to 50,045 for Congressmen and Baltimore Democrats at about 9,000. John Howard Payne, author of Home Sweet Home, is to have his remains moved from Tunis to Oak Hill Cemetery in Washington, with Corcoran arranging the transfer and a June memorial service planned, a humane gesture praised nationwide.
