Items include rolls of building paper 1 387 129 pounds, malt 878 598, oats 294 463, wheat 98 7768, barley 96 988, corn 1 24 (spurious OCR) , flour 90 000 barrels, green apples 8 940, dried apples 148, cider 114, tallow 145, wool 149 600, hides 680, cattle and hogs counts, horses 16, and various other agricultural goods. Receipts show Jan 1 1872 to Jan 1 1872 with lumber and coal tar and other materials.

Anya and company officials received sealed bids for line work at Elm Hall last Wednesday and Thursday with bids to be opened when all are in. Locally, laborers to Calhoun county are being assembled and bridge work here will start once the engineer is available. The Peninsular to Elm Hall extension contracts are to be let next week. Additionally the ad touts Vegetine as a nerve and blood tonic for debility and nervous symptoms.
A Temperance Union with over 300 members is organized in Albion. The bond of union cites intemperance as a social evil and calls for legal, honorable means to suppress liquor sales. The group names Dr. W. W. Collins as President, M. B. Wood as Vice President, C. W. Boyce as Secretary, Josiah Wright as Treasurer, and lists an executive committee including W. D. Fox, Wm. Howard, Rev. A. M. Fitch, Ira W. Reed and Elisha Warner.
The High School Club was reorganized recently with President I Henderson, Secretary Jas M Moses, Treasurer Geo T HE Southworth, and Captain W J Dibble. The group challenges any club in the country and hopes other clubs will send challenges more promptly than last year.
Henry Libbert a long time township resident died last week of typhoid fever after a two week illness and was buried Sunday Mrs Brown an elderly English woman living alone in a small shanty was found dead in her bed Saturday afternoon
Mr. O. H. White of White's Station leases his extensive farm to several tenants who will cultivate and operate it on a share basis under the arrangement.
A Newton man, George Byers, hanged himself in his barn on the morning of the fourth. He left a note about bearing heavy troubles and asked George Bentley to settle his business. An inquest yielded little, and Byers had recently bought the Aldrich farm in Fredonia, with enough funds to cover the purchase. A neighbor praised him as a devoted husband and citizen, not prone to violence.
Mr. Howard of Tekonsha sold his hardware store to Mr. W. L. Winslow of Oakland County for $2000. The Union School began April 1 in charge of Professor Randall who taught the term just closed and was honored with Dick's Works. Mr. Smith plans a jewelry store start. Jonas Hall bought Page and Herrick a one third stake for 700. Village rumors warn of water quality issues and a looming conflict.
The leading traveling company, praised as the finest in America, will appear at The Academy on Wednesday and Thursday evenings April 18 and 19. After successful seasons in Chicago and Milwaukee they were paid $2,000 plus expenses for a week in Milwaukee. The program includes songs, dances, and comedies with operetta Cinderella on Wednesday and Fra Diavolo burlesque on Thursday. Boxodont dental product promoted with much flourish.
