Illinois oil field shows mixed results amid big four rail freight strain
In Crawford county in the New Hebron oil field J L Kirkland and partners report a 24 hour output of 400 barrels from No 8 on the Powder farm, with No 2 yielding about 100 barrels. Several nearby dry holes temper the scene as the Parker-Edwards holdings loom for sale while investors eye eastern properties. Meanwhile the Big Four rail system fights schedule delays from heavier traffic and cold weather, trimming freight tonnage from 50 to 35 loads to relieve congestion though more crews and engines may be needed.
