War Hero Col Terrance Clark Dies at Home in Metcalf
Col Terrance Clark a Civil War veteran died Sunday at his Metcalf home. He enlisted 1862 and led Company A of the 70th Illinois, was captured at Chickamauga and escaped Libby prison through a famed tunnel. He was promoted to Lt Colonel before resigning January 24, 1865, due to ill health. He had moved from Ohio in 1859 and owned over 5,000 acres of Edgar County farmland.

John Edwin Zuric Turney son of Daniel B Turney of the South Illinois Conference Methodist Protestant church died in Phoenix Arizona on December 14 1909 at age 28 after seeking recovery from consumption. Born September 29 1878 in Streator Illinois he was a schoolteacher with a life certificate and translated the Gospel of John into Esperanto during his illness. His father mother brother sister and wife survive along with many others.
