A Friday night riot near the Presidio involved 500 to 600 soldiers from the Party Sixth and Forty-fifth and Forty-sixth regiments wrecking Mrs Powers saloon. Windows smashed, lamps overturned, fire started, and a man named Morgan from the Forty-sixth allegedly drugged. Harris was beaten. cavalry and guard restored order after fire hose was used. Damage estimated at $2000. An investigation will follow.
