Calhoun Circuit and the state of the law in Calhoun county
A letter to the editor argues against creating a new Calhoun county circuit. It disputes claims that lawyers mostly favor the change, contending only a few seek the new job of judge at 2500 dollars. The piece asserts court business has declined, judges have cleared dockets, and that a new circuit would raise costs without real need. The writers urge against political lawyers driving reform and reference Kalamazoo’s split circuit as a warning. They praise Judge Smith and oppose replacing him.
