Trial notes in probation and child support hearing

The defense failed to appear and evidence showed the court ordered $80 monthly child support and $100 attorney fee. The grand jury will meet in November. A prior plea of guilty to grand larceny was granted probation and a court date set for October to show cause why he is in contempt of court.

Mrs Minerva Tapscott passed a Sway Tuesday at her home in Auburn township at the age of 81 years. Burial was in the Clarksville cemetery.

Marshall Lions celebrate 10th anniversary and mortgage burning

The Marshall Lions Club marked its tenth anniversary with a gala at the Youth Building on the fairgrounds. The event included a Swiss dinner, a high school vocal trio, remarks by district and deputy district governors, and presentation of long service chevrons. The mortgage on the Youth Building, created in 1950 and funded by local leaders, was paid off totaling $18,000, signaling the completion of a four year fundraising effort and honoring contributors including Earl Sumption and George Manning.
