Former Pastor John Miller Dies in Oklahoma Home
John Miller, former pastor of the Marshall Methodist church, died in his Oklahoma City home. Born in Edgar County and a Paris High School and DePauw University alumnus, he moved away about 20 years ago. Funeral planned at Paris Methodist Church. survivors include his wife Nettie Evinger, four children, a brother and three sisters.

Chicken thieves nabbed by sheriff Monday night
John and Will Highshoe of Robinson were arrested Monday night on a chicken theft charge after a tip led Sheriff Turner to intercept them northbound near Marshall. They stole about 24 chickens from Guyer near Hutsonville and are jailed awaiting transfer by Sheriff Moore. Also cited are J. W. Wilson caught in Indiana and Otho Cox fined in Terre Haute.

Aerial Meet at Chanute Field Draws Crowds in Illinois

Troy B. York alias Glen Payne and Lee Chapman were arrested in Paris Illinois on charges of defrauding Clinton Indiana merchants with bogus checks. York pleaded guilty received 2 to 14 years in prison and a $50 fine plus costs. he claimed Chapman was innocent and was released.
