Oil field activity reports from Marshall area wells
In Marshall and surrounding townships activity continues with the Cox land well near Weaver pool producing over 50 barrels daily. The Mullen near Weaver pool is not yet complete after acidizing attempts. A Ben Salter land well two miles southwest of Marshall showed no oil and was plugged. A Knox/Orange township well south of the producing Wells site is a small producer. Drilling resumes this week with two wells planned by Griffith Oil Co and two by Continental Oil Co in Orange township.

Twilight Riders Show at Clark County Fairgrounds Sunday
The Twilight Riders saddle club will host a western horse show at the Clark County fairgrounds in Marshall next Sunday, September 20. Admission is free and ribbon prizes will be awarded for ten entries. The program includes a grand parade and multiple classes such as ladies pleasure, pony pickup for children under 14, one-fourth mile eliminations, musical chairs, barrel race, potato race, pair class, pony express, and a pickup race with a one-fourth mile finale.

Checks and notes found west of Paris recovered
Deputy Sheriff Milo Pearce met Sheriff Bell of Edgar County Wednesday afternoon and drove west of Paris on route 16 where about $3000 worth of checks and notes stolen July 18 from the W. H. Turner International Harvester business in Casey were recovered along route 16 by Howard Bruce.

Lee Butcher age 15 son of George Butcher of Marshall ruptured his spleen while playing at Marshall High School Tuesday afternoon. He was taken to Paris Hospital for treatment and reported improving Thursday.

Burns Smith, recently injured with a broken ankle, returned home from Union Hospital. Zollie Marrs, father of Benton Marrs, suffered a heart attack and was admitted to Union Hospital Terre Haute. Darwin homecoming set for September 27 at the school house with a basket lunch and afternoon entertainment. Mrs Tingley and daughter arrived from Crestview Florida to stay with relatives. True Garwood and Mr Tingley report to a California camp on October 6.
