In a Chicago primary marked by violence including a killing and multiple assaults, the anti Thompson ticket led by Oglesby for Governor and McKinley for Senator trailed Chicago results. Locally Clark County favored Oglesby by about 500 with Anderson and Douglas townships voting Small.
Seymour Hurst won strong county approval for representative. In Marshall the race for State's Attorney yielded about one fourth for H. M. Janney with scattered votes countywide. Clements is poised to carry the county by a large majority. State ticket shows J. Ham Lewis of Chicago far ahead of his governor opponent.
Clark county farmers joined recent tours to the University on September 2 and 3 with about 35 participants. A soybean tour drew around 60 attendees the following Tuesday. The upcoming September 21 field visit at Toledo Cumberland County will feature Dr. Bauer from the University explaining treatments and investigations on typical Clark county land with 10:30 am field arrival and morning train connections via Greenup and No. 26.
Water from an upper room flooded the Whitlock Vailguy Store today damaging many goods and stock. Police and fire crews were called to assess the scene and secure the premises. Authorities reported no injuries.
The Marshall Chamber of Commerce will hold a regular session Friday at 6 30 p m at city hall with supper served. Topics include assisting Vandalla depot with lighting and addressing farmers limestone requests amid limited freight car service.
The band concert was canceled Thursday night due to sickness accidents and absences. A large crowd assembled was disappointed but the program will be rescheduled for Thursday night if the weather cooperates with a trombone solo vocal solo by a leading singer a male quartet and several novelty items. The band will accept request numbers and plans to continue as weather permits.
Fix and Hanley fought in the courthouse in a hand to hand struggle over a 2x6 scantling. Hanley was badly damaged. Fix paid a fine which was collected for him by subscription.
Brokers priced coal at 750 dollars a ton in Terre Haute while mines offered 4.40 a ton only when stock is available. No coal was ready for shipment at the mines.

M W Porter auditor for Illinois Pipe Line was struck near the company offices while crossing South Main street at 4 30 pm. The driver C J James of Columbus was arrested on speeding and reckless driving charges. Porter sustained deep head cuts and a badly bruised shoulder but is expected to recover. Witness Roy Jeffords and Don Winterro nd corroborate the account.
William Rhodes and his wife are moving from Moonshine to Showers Pennsylvania to begin a new life. They lived in Moonshine for 12 years and worked in the oil field and ran a country store. Neighbors say they will be missed but wish them well as they travel by car to their new home.
Jerome F Jones fed at his home near Dennison Monday at 9 00 pm. The funeral was held yesterday at 10 00 pm. The body was taken to New Providence for burial in Indiana.

The Rev. P. Raymond Powers was shifted to the Rock River Conference at the Illinois division conference in Decatur. The Rev. C E Pettit from Plonington takes his post, noted as a promising young minister. Powers moves to Centenary Church Chicago as institutional church leader, with plans to expand Morgan Memorial style programs, and will relocate with Mrs Powers next week.
On Sunday September 4 old Block school teachers pupils and friends gathered at Corks grove joining the school grounds for an all day picnic. About 125 names were registered with William Marvin named as oldest living pupil and Mary Mount and Elizabeth Harris as oldest teachers. Plans were made for an annual event with the next homecoming set for the first Sunday in September 1921.
A roll call and rally day was held Sunday at Flat Rock by the Flat Rock and Hardinsville churches with J I ONeal of this city presiding. Ninety percent of members attended and activities increased over the year. A basket dinner fed about 41 people and Judge Langleton of Robinson spoke on Christian Citizenship at 1 o clock.
The Methodist Brotherhood arranges a tramp convention for Friday evening September 24 weather permitting. Tramps meet at the church at dusk and head to Will Englishs for supper and stories from hobos past. Dress as a tramp to be admitted. clothing badge required.
J J Stone 36 of Marley Illinois wed Mark gate Cassady 26 of Paris. Donaii QO Medsker 28 of Marshall married Amy Davidson 21 of Marshall.
George Haddix was born in Darwin township October 19 1852. He died at Anna state hospital September 7 1920 aged 68 years and 11 months. He was married to Belle Harm on January 31 1876. Survived by three sons Charles John and Walter and two daughters in law Mrs Emma Jeter Terre Haute Ind and Mrs Anna Miller Darwin township. He was buried Thursday afternoon in Darwin cemetery.
The IOOF picnic at Martinsville fair grounds drew a large crowd Sunday with a full program and good eats. J L May and Olen R Clements gave addresses while Rey I T Black entertained the attendees with a lively Odd Fellow program.
A road worker suffered a severely mashed finger on Friday afternoon when his right hand was caught between two cars he was guiding. He was attempting to topple or move the vehicles and sustained the injury while operating on the roadside.
Donald O Medsker and Amy Davidson wed at the bride’s East Main home with Rev. D T Black officiating. To avoid a Legion parade they fled by car to Paris for a brief honeymoon, then returned to Marshall where Legion members confronted them and a serenade followed in the streets. The couple plans to live on North Fifth street in a cottage built by Seymour Hurst.
Regular services Sunday at usual hours with Rev Powers preaching his farewell sermon. Morning and evening worship, Sunday School at 9:00, League at 6 30 pm, special music for the occasion, and a full turnout requested from members and friends.
Congregationalist Rev Clark S Thomas of Chicago who visited last Sunday will preach again this Sunday. Morning subject is How Can We Know God and evening theme The Popularity of Jesus at 7 30. Special music will be rendered at both services.
The Losal committee announces The Century Festival Series with Festival Orchestra October 11 Normandy Singers December 8 Kenilworth Ladies Glee Club January 14 and Chicago Concert Players February. Details and circulars are being distributed as arrangements are finalized.
Lester Sisson who gave the name Lester Clawson when apprehended in Marshall last week for attempting to sell a stolen automobile was taken to his Williamsport residence by Sheriff Olimer L. Stewart of Warren County Indiana. Owner A. A. Skinner had already come to Marshall to claim the car.
Marshall District Court No 16 elected officers Friday night and held a social session with refreshments at City Drug Store. Installation is planned for September 24 with the Life Association deputy present. Abbie Clark, Recorder.
