Republican candidates to meet voters at courthouse

On Friday September 14 at 3 PM Governor Stratton Secretary Carpenter Attorney General Castle and Elbert Smith state auditor candidate will be at the courthouse. Republicans invite men and women to meet the state candidates and other district and county hopefuls. An additional visit at 8 PM is encouraged if possible.

Extension Council Now Functioning in Clark County

Clark County forms a 13 member Agricultural Extension Council to oversee the Extension Service. Farm Adviser Warren Bundy will report to the council while offices remain in the Farm Bureau buildings. New officers include Don Maulliding as chairman and Harvey Wright as vice chairman.

Former resident Idell Adams Taylor dies in Sumner

Idell Adams Taylor aged 74 a former Clark County school teacher and wife of G B Taylor a former dentist in Marshall died at her Sumner Washington home Wednesday September 12. She leaves three children Dwight Taylor Dean Taylor and Ruth Taylor three brothers Otis Adams Ernest Adams and George Adams and one sister Nettie Milner Funeral services and burial were held in Sumner today.

Directors Meeting at Marshall Chamber Sets Dues Milestone

The Marshall Chamber of Commerce board met on Sept 11 at Tom's Cafe with President Joe Matey presiding. Paid membership stood at 985. A general meeting is planned Sept 17 at 7 80 p m at the American Legion Home to hear reports on industry planning and zoning lake and fire district.

License suspended for Casey driver over Indiana intoxication

Secretary of State Charles F. Carpentier suspended the license of Jack Hill of 5 West Edgar Street Casey for driving intoxicated in Indiana. Mrs Harvey Nightlinger who fell and broke her left ankle last week is using a wheelchair and improving nicely.

Bundy Named Farm Adviser for Clark County

Warren W. Bundy of Olney Illinois has been employed as farm adviser in Clark County effective October 1. He previously served two years as assistant farm adviser in Richland County guiding 4 H clubs and rural youth programs. Bundy a 1949 graduate and World War II veteran, will move with wife Reta and four children Glenda Cathy Larry Lois to Clark County in September.

Malley Force Camporee set at Wabash Valley Fairgrounds

The Wabash Valley Council Boy Scouts announce the Malley Force Camporee at the fairgrounds south of Terre Haute October 5 6 7. Over 1400 scouts and adult leaders from nine counties expected to camp and participate in camping cooking and advancement activities with unit judging and awards. Air Force family relocates to Tempe Arizona

T/Sgt. Clifford D Howell and his wife Dorothy Garwood Howell now reside in Tempe Arizona. He is assigned to the Air Force ROTC student records section at Arizona State College Tempe. Previously they were stationed at Williams Air Force Base Chandler Arizona for two years. Dorothy is the daughter of Mr and Mrs William Garwood of Marshall.

Waymire and Davis Families Announce Births

Mr and Mrs Lester Waymire announce the birth of their first child David Dean Sunday at Fort Benjamin Harrison Indiana. Mrs Waymire is Barbara Wilson daughter of Henry Wilson of West Union. Mr Waymire is son of Ben Waymire and Stanley Davis is the father of a 7 pound 11 ounce boy named Darrell Leon born Sunday at Union Hospital. Mrs Davis is farmer Lila June Morgan.

Clark County Fair Board Reports Financials and Plans

The Clark County Fair Board met at the high school to review premiums and finances. Secretary Dorothy Clark announced an $4 000 rehabilitation claim approved by the state for improvements to the fairgrounds. The annual Clark County Fair Association meeting is set for December 12 as a pot luck in the high school cafeteria.

Secretary Revokes 16YearOld's License After Tragic Chicago Crash

Secretary Charles F. Carpentier revoked the 16 year old Richard J. Dombeck of Skokie license after his car struck and killed two girls Janet Griffiths and Sandra Griffiths in Chicago. The tragedy prompted a warning about parental responsibility for underage drivers who pass exams yet ignore traffic laws.

The Marshall Post Office has provided new ball point pens attached to the lobby desk by beaded chains. A theft sign will be posted, and users are instructed to read the name Lary on the desk.

Final Soil Bank Sign-up Date Set for Sept 21

The final date for farmers to sign up for the 1957 wheat crop acreage reserve portion of the Soil Bank is September 21, per Mr. Weaver, chairman of the Indiana ASC office. Farmers not yet signed up should visit the Martinsville office promptly, with signatures from other interested producers due by October 1.

Evangelist Meetings Set at Marshall Church
