The Burnsides Convalescing and Nursing Home was dedicated Sunday at 10 30 AM with about 1400 attendees including Miss Ethel Burnsides who cut the ribbon. Raymond Massey delivered the dedication address and Dr Fred Camerol attended. The building was presented to Charles Bush by Glen A Frazier and Associates Urbana Illinois. The home opens for occupancy Sunday September 15 offering private and semi private rooms with twenty four hour nursing care and full services.

Hit and Run Skipper Escapes Hospital After Chase
Mil lard R. Sneed of Flint Michigan struck a car east of Marshall and fled. A police plane tracked him to a tree near McKeen and deputies escorted him to Paris hospital. Sneed later escaped hospital in his clothes with two companions driving off. He was described as driving a stolen car and under Michigan law violations. federal agents were expected to pursue.

A large crowd enjoyed the Fall Festival over Friday and Saturday September 6 and 7. Highlights included parades featuring Marshall High School Band and bands from Cumberland Martinsville and Marshall, antique autos on display, a chicken barbecue, and a late square dance. Awards went to multiple antique and classic car owners led by Jim Finney, Morgan Newlin, Virginia Shaw, Dale Kessler, Earl and Harold Ellshoff, Abel Archer, Steve Newport, and Clell Baggs.
