A Saturday night break in at Marshall High School damaged the campus and safe. Thieves shattered a window and forced a door to the gym, entered the superintendent’s office via a transom, opened a desk, and took about 50 dollars. The principal’s office was ransacked and the safe’s lock was badly battered in a failed attempt to open it.
Prof. W. G. Deering delivered lectures at the Clark county teachers institute held Tuesday to Thursday at the high school. Prof. L. W. Williams led high school teacher sectional meetings, Mrs. Merwin led grade and rural sections, a noon luncheon for about sixty men teachers occurred, and a general gathering followed at the high school gymnasium.
Community Motors, Incorporated launches a St Louis Missouri to Terre Haute Indiana bus line. The first trip was Sunday with two buses each way. Westbound departures are 7 40 AM and 3 40 PM. eastbound departures 1 50 PM and 11 20 PM.
The Wabash Valley Fox Hunters Association held its annual meet at Casey park last week ending Friday. Four foxes were jumped in four races with 80 dogs in the chases on Wednesday morning. A barbecue fed about 800 pounds of beef Thursday evening and a dance was held nightly on an improvised platform.
Professor I D Taubeneck writes of the Illinois State High School Debating League noting rapid growth in two years. Thirty six schools joined the first year and sixty seven the next. Minier Community High School won the first state championship and University High School won the second, both coached by Taubeneck associates formerly of Marshall.
James Groves and Eunice Johnson, both of Marshall, were married Saturday by Squire Tom Craig. Wm Brewster and Ethel Jones, both of Marshall, were married Saturday by Squire Craig.
Kenneth Little fourteen year old son of Mr and Mrs Herman Little was bruised but uninjured when he stepped into the National highway in front of the Little home east of Marshall. He was carried from fifty to sixty yards by a car driven by Chicago residents before it could stop.
Paul Sargent loans ten pictures including Oats Field Noon Hour and Beech Woods to Chas FE McMorris for display in the National Dixie Hotel lobby and parlors for an indefinite period. Works have appeared in Chicago galleries. Sargent recently gained prominence and is a Charleston College alumnus livingnear Saulsbury Coles County. The exhibit, valued over 1000 dollars, drew 30Institute teachers to view it on Wednesday.
About 30 Marshall Chamber of Commerce members met at the Congregational church to hear James T. Cummings of Ajax Electric Specialty Company of St. Louis present a plan to build a factory for electrical supplies including fuse plugs and radio parts. He proposed 18 to 20 workers and a porcelain factory, with $25,000 ensuring the venture, and a committee will visit St. Louis to study the project.
Mildred McFarling, daughter of Mrs Len McFarling, fell from a playground board at noon Wednesday and broke her left arm just above the wrist. Dr R A Mitchell treated the injury. Also listed are new circuit court cases including several divorces and foreclosures and notice that Rev Ji O Neal will stay with North Terre Haute church until January 1927 marking five years of ministry.
Garfield from Terre Haute traveled to face Marshall but lost 15 to 3. Martin opened scoring for Marshall, Stewart added a goal, Kuhn broke free for a 50 yard run, and a Garfield fumble near the goal yielded two points for Marshall.
The council discussed Buddy Ferris's sidewalk petition and voted to build a street crossing in front of the Ferris home if he installs the sidewalk. A Ninth and Plum street light was granted, Twelfth and Ash light left to water and light committee, and issues of transients, water rates, and Main Street stands debated with no actions taken.
A Clarksville community festival will be held at the Clarksville Baptist church on Friday night October 16. Farmers will display corn and farm goods with ribbon premiums. The program includes orchestra selections, quartette songs, an address by W A Fuson, a talk by Worth W Merritt, a talk by R E Apple on Better Agriculture for Clark County, judging of exhibits, an auction sale of farm products, and music to close.

Edgar Schumaker formerly of Marshall now works for Bledsoe & Co. of Terre Haute as a coal sales representative. He previously ran Marshall Ice & Power and will move his family to South Bend. his eldest son may join the business in the territory.
Frances Goodrich, five, granddaughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Malloy, was struck by a Ford touring car driven by a Casey youth on South Sixth Street. She suffered a severe head bruise and nervous shock but no broken bones after darting into traffic while crossing from a neighbor’s yard.
