Noted rum runner captured after chase near Greenup
Sheriff J M Turner and deputies tracked a suspected liquor smugger who slipped through their net near Greenup. Floyd Float Haverstick, linked to the St Louis gang, was later arrested in Paris with 10 five gallon cans of alcohol and two cases of bonded whisky. A 16 year old Terre Haute youth, Arthur Thompson, rode with him. Federal officers at Danville were notified and the prisoners were taken there late Wednesday afternoon.

Elderly man seriously hurt when buggy struck near Marshall
George Luckhaupt, elderly Marshall resident, was severely injured Sunday night when a Paris driven Chevrolet struck his buggy on Route 1 near Pat Foley's residence.
