Col Ben G Whitehead editor of the Mc Allen Sun describes the Spahn Sanitarium at North Beach Corpus Christi submerged by flood during a storm. Fifty three patients and five staff were trapped. 48 fed others and one nurse vanished and are believed drowned. Whitehead recalls the night of terror as the building broke apart and the group prayed and awaited rescue. A boy and another lad waded out. a boat arrived in the afternoon and all were moved to the courthouse.
