Drilling Expands Across Anderson Township and Marshall Field
The Herald notes activity in Anderson Township near the Choctaw area with drilling starting on the Cox No 2 and Murphy No 4 wells, plus a spudder on Chester Murphy No 1. In Marshall and Elbridge fields drilling continues, while some wells like Staub in Douglas Township and Charles Hilbert in Darwin Township were abandoned. Repressure work is underway across Clark Crawford and Lawrence counties to revive old Illinois fields, with substantial investments in water systems and promising production gains. The Patoka field shows rebound from 700 to 4700 barrels per day. Also announced are Post Office closing-time changes effective June 1 1950 and new hours starting immediately.
