Dog Attack Leaves 4 Year Old Cribler in Need of Twenty Nine Stitches
Joe Cribeler and his family from Aurora Illinois visited Sylvar Connelly near Martinsville when Kenny Cribler, four, was bitten in the front yard by a large dog. He suffered wounds to the nose face and head requiring twenty nine stitches at Dr. George Mitchell's Marshall office.

Fifty Years Ago 1913 Opposition to New Steel Bridge
A newspaper note from 1913 reports opposition to replacing the cold covered bridge west of the city on the National Road with a new steel structure. Proponents say the old bridge can be rehabilitated to last a generation and holds sentimental value as the last original bridge from the road’s opening. No oil wells reported in the county.
