Canton Dixon Dies at 73 in Canton Home
Canton Dixon died Thursday evening April 29 at his North Sixth Street home. He was 73 and had run an implement and feed store for 27 years before entering the news trade in 1928. Survived by widow Chavine, son Burns Dixon, daughter Mrs Ellen Kirkwood of Whittier California, and three grandchildren Doris Lee Donald Kirkwood and Bill Dixon. Private services were held at the residence with Dr Guy Cox officiating. Cremation followed in Indianapolis.

Vernon Whitmer 36 of Terre Haute died in a Sunday morning truck crash near Mill Creek bridge five miles west of Marshall. Driver Arthur Graves also of Terre Haute escaped with minor injuries.
