Light liming boosts spring legume seed germination

Farm Adviser Bousleg notes light liming can help spring legume seedings. Drilling 500 pounds of lime per acre in the drill row creates a 2 inch acidity strip near roots, best when soil is mildly acidic with available phosphorus. Effects last a single crop and cannot replace normal lime rates of 2 to 4 tons per acre.
