Fish Fry at Curran Home Honors Ronny Martin Visit

A family dinner Sunday at Mr and Mrs Pat Curran celebrated Ronny Martin visiting from Alaska. Ronny, wife Gayle and daughter Diana live at 815 North Fifth Street. He has worked on an oil rig near Anchorage since last October and will fly back today. Attendees included Darrell and Larry Martin, Lori, Carolyn Parsley, Marion and Randall Cochran, Flora Jones and Ronny and Dianna Martin.

Junior High Open House Draws 400 Plus Attendees

Marshall Community Schools PTA held its annual Junior High School Open House on Monday April 21 with the event starting in the boys gym and ending in classrooms. Officers were installed by district PTA director Verniece Tingley and music from Miss Martha Dobson and Libby Wells accompanied tours led by Principal Ralph Hooker.

Dolls in News Displayed in Vigo County Library

Dried apple dolls and related furnishings from the Ti nois Sesqui centennial at the old McCann House in Marshall are on display during National Library Week at the West Terre Haute Branch. Librarian Fletcher W. Gates arranged the loan of the collection. The dolls were crafted by Mrs. Mack Liggett of Rural Route 5, Marshall.

West York man sets world hog shipment weight record

Lawrence Newlin of West York broke the world record for hog shipments with 35 hogs averaging 532 pounds, netting $102 per head in a recent Indiana shipment. Also noted are marriage licenses for Milton Shawer and Virginia McNary, and a Chicago corn price drop linked to grain administration policy.

President L N Hines announced general graduation arrangements for Terre Haute based Indiana State Teachers College. Dr Elmer B Bryan of Ohio University will be principal speaker for exercises in the physical education building on Friday June 14 at 9 30 AM. Historical marker notes Margaretta Post Office era 1840 1861

Clark County Historical Society and Illinois State Historical Society unveil a marker at the Melvin Behner farm between Clarksville and Westfield on the Lincoln Memorial Highway. The post office served northwestern Clark County from 1840 to 1861 and was named for Margaret, wife of postmaster William B Marrs.
