Word reached Marshall that Attorney Arthur Poorman formerly of Marshall died in Coral Gables Florida on Wednesday. He had moved to Chicago years ago and later to Coral Gables. The body will be brought to Moore Funeral Home in Marshall where funeral arrangements are pending.
Mark Morgan of Ingram Avenue Hampstead Garden Suburb received the God and Country emblem at the First Church of Christ Scientist in Hendon London. He completed Protestant Committee on Scouting requirements with approval from the Boston based Christian Science Board of Directors.
Robert Smith president of Illinois State Historical Society will speak at a Casey dinner April 6 at Tom's Cafe after a 6:00 p.m. meal with reservations due by April 1. An 7:30 p.m. talk will follow for all interested at Tom's. Also noted are obituaries for Don Jones and Hattie S. Spires detailing their deaths and survivors.
The Clarksville Baptist Church hosts Evangelistic Services starting April 29 at 7 30 nightly. Harold Cameron state secretary of missions from Carbondale Illinois delivers Bible messages. Herschel Gardner leads song with Nina Hogue on piano. Mrs. Lester Veach Ira Murphy cited in local notices.
A special session of Congress opened amid exciting circumstances as President Wilson urged immediate entry into the war. Senator La Follette used his tactics to block action on the president’s call for an army of 500000 and aid to the Allies. Marriage licenses issued include A R Calvin and Janila Smith, Martinsville. Lester H Johnson and Lettle Ruth Wright, Casey. Elmer Akers and Helen Crow, Melrose township. Harry Casteel’s farm sold at auction for 64 per acre. Milo Combs the buyer. Locals Walter Anthon, Herbert Trefz and Harry Shivelar headed to Gillette Wyoming with a carload of farm goods for their claims. Fifty-two autos passed Marshall en route from Toledo to St Louis as rail freight congestion grows.

A ministerial convention of the Illinois district will be held at Marshall Pilgrim Holiness Church at 10th and Elm Streets on April 4 and 5. Rev. W. E. The Marshall White Shrine held installation of elected and appointed officers on Saturday night March 1 1 with installing officers Lucy Raffety Leo Wernz Ruth Garwood Mary Hornbrook Lena Rittenhouse Ruth Hollenbeck Elsie Enstead and Bess Craig A long list of officers and roles followed including Worthy High Priestess Mrs Jewell Kile and many others occupying titles such as Watchman of Shepherds Noble Prophetess Worthy Secretary Worthy Treasurer and Organist along with duties for guards, heralds, dancers, and escorts.
The town of Marshall Illinois issues a proclamation for April as Cancer Control Month. It urges residents to support the American Cancer Society and promote awareness of the seven warning signals of cancer. The measure notes Illinois cases and emphasizes education, a donated sticker, and community action during March 22, 1967.

West Union host Mrs. Erma Manhart led the Thursday Afternoon Club on March 23 with a program including her own selections, a story by Eileen Ferris, a paper by Mrs. Ivan Cline, a white elephant sale for the treasury, and a tape recording of the meeting. Guests included Mrs. Mary Lou Brady Miss Mabel Dodd Clara Shotwell and three others, with refreshments served to members and guests from multiple area towns.
A revival meeting is in progress at St. Paul Methodist Church on the Martinsville Circuit with nightly services at 7:00 p.m. through April 9 conducted by Evangelist Rev Walter Volkers of Marshall. Welcomes are extended to all.
At the annual meeting Velsicol Chemical Corp elected James Krebaum as treasurer and Ralph Abbott as corporate controller. Norman E. Hathaway said 1966 gross sales rose to a record 621 million, up 16.5 percent from 1965. Two directors, Joseph Regenstein Jr and John Eggum, declined reelection to devote time to Arvey Corp, which is owned by Regenstein interests.
Burglars pried open two doors at Marshall Co-op on North Fifth Street Saturday night. They took money from a pop machine and scattered papers across the floor. Mrs. Wandabee Veach returned from St. Anthony Hospital in Terre Haute Friday of last week.
Marshall representatives placed among fourteen schools with no contestant finishing below sixth. Frank Vanoven and Vicky Homann earned second and third place medals respectively.
