The jury convicts Cash in a murder case after testimony from coroner and witnesses. Mrs Arthur Turner, 37, dies of typhoid at Clarksville home. her daughter Charles Turner Sr. among survivors. The trial featured a stabbing weapon found on Cash and a dramatic sequence of courtroom proceedings.
Circulating petitions show two city slates the People’s ticket and the Citizens ticket. The People’s ticket lists Mayor John Weir Clerk Clarence Bailey Treasurer Clarence Parsons Attorney Harry Janney Alderman 2nd Ward Carl Taubeneck 3rd Ward Joseph Borbandiet. The Citizens ticket lists Mayor Harry Casteel Clerk Frank Greenough Treasurer Clarence Bailey Attorney Arthur Poor nan Alderman 1st Ward E M Duncar 2nd Ward Sumner Maring 3rd Ward Joseph Forbeck.
Bryan, visiting, addressed the Illinois legislature yesterday. He said his coming aimed to break the deadlock in the senatorial election. Immediately after, a wake was held and Mr Lewis received five votes, with the preceding ballot noted.

Briefs filed in the state senate contest between John Irvin Democrat and Senator John R. Hamilton Republican. The proposal asks that ballots cast in Mattoon be counted first, and if Irvin’s ballots do not show, the contest should be dropped.
Probate records show Mrs Christina Scott of Casey admitted Saturday. Estate valued around 3000 dollars with bequests ranging from 100 to 400 dollars to several individuals in recognition of their kindness.

The grand jury adjourned Thursday after returning six indictments. Adolph Svancar pled guilty to burglary of Robert Thompson’s home and received a penitentiary sentence. Indicted were Charles Hinkle for selling intoxicants Walter and Harry Short for disturbing the peace John McGee for child abandonment Charles Wallace for larceny and A H Repp for perjury. Several cases were disposed of including Foreclosures and Divorces with custody and alimony details. Jesse Minear's suit against the State Board of Agriculture for damages from the grand stand collapse was in progress.

Evangelical Association announces a week of nightly revival services at 9230 with special Friday Good Friday events. Rev. J. J. Wise of Indianapolis will preach Saturday at 2 PM and 7 30 PM and Sunday at 10 30 AM. The pastor will lead Sunday evening services and urges all members to attend and invite others.
Sheriff in Gallatin pursued two thieves, Ora and Monroe Walton, after a farm house burglary at Ray Mattingly of Edgar county. The brothers were found in Vandalia tower at McKeen with three revolvers, a gold watch, and other valuables, then turned over to Edgar county authorities. They admitted guilt, claiming intoxication during the crime.
Mrs T J Garwood died last Thursday at her Dar win township home after a week long illness. Funeral services were held Sunday at Walnut Prairie church with Rev J A Sweet officiating and interment at Brick cemetery. Born Elizabeth Jane Poorman in Clark County on September 23 1852 she married T J Garwood on April 4 1857 and had one daughter Osceola now Mrs Thomas Haddix. She helped on the farm and joined the Christian church long ago, remaining a respected community member known for quiet service.
W Wednesday W. T. Hollenbeck introduced two bills in the House. One bill would appropriate 5009 dollars for the Clark County Agricultural Association which runs the Martinsville fair grounds. The second bill provides for special taxation up to the legal limit to pay bonds on water systems public buildings electric light plants and street railways when a city or village faces forfeiture due to overdue payments.

The body of June Hughes twelve year old daughter of Mrs Josephine Eversole Syms was brought to Champaign for burial after being found dead in a bath tub with an electric wire in the bathroom. The child lived with her aunt Margaret Eversole Dunlavy while attending school and her mother could not reach Champaign due to troubles in Mexico. Funeral services were held Sunday at Capt E Harlan’s home conducted by Rev W J Drew and interment followed in the city cemetery.

The Epworth League plans a sunrise prayer and praise service at 6 60 in the Methodist church on Easter morning. If rain prevents attendance the service will be postponed.
Owners of Jots in Marshall cemetery who have not paid for care and lots for 1911 and 1912 are notified that unless arrearages are paid such lots will be stricken from the list and not cared for in 1913. The Secretary can be found at the Treasurer’s office.

A West Union jury returned a not guilty verdict after a lengthy trial involving Frances Mount who accused Charles Prevoy of illicit relations and sought $5000 in damages. Prominent local attorneys from Robinson and West Union presented compelling arguments as witnesses filled the courtroom.
A two day meeting of the First subdistrict Illinois conference of the M P Church will be held April 9 to 11 at Grace Chapel. The program includes opening services, addresses and sermons by Rev. Wesley and Rev. Gammon, sessions on church work, scripture inspiration, saving faith, and a closing sermon by Rev. McKay.

Easter services will be held Sunday with a sunrise praise at 6 am, Sunday School at 9:30, morning worship and sermon at 10:45, and vesper service at 4 pm. No league or night practice. All are welcome.
Verma Brosman born January 25 1912 died March 590 1918. She leaves father Hattie mother two brothers two sisters and many relatives. Funeral services were held at Auburn conducted by Blas Haase of Burnett. Interment followed in Burn Cemetery.
An obituary notice notes deaths from pneumonia with funeral services at Cooper Chapel. Rev D H Ruppus conducted the services. Interment followed at a White Cemetery.
