Former Marshall Boy Wins Honors on USC Debate Team

Milton Dickens, son of Mr and Mrs O A Dickens formerly of Marshall, won honors as best speaker on the University of Southern California debate team in Los Angeles. He helped defeat Arizona in a March 6 Trojan article, with J Elwood Harmon and Dickens on the negative side. Mr and Mrs G C Hallauer have returned to Champaign for a short stay with relatives.

Grand jury returns six indictments in Clark County case

A Clark County grand jury met Monday and Tuesday and returned six indictments including The People vs John Hazen for adultery and The People vs Clint Creed plus Ira Hammersley for violating Prohibition laws. Mrs Pearl Hall of Marshall and W O Stacey of St Louis wed Wednesday in Vandalia. They plan a two week wedding trip and will reside in the C R Johnson property on South Sixth Street Marshall after returning.

Indianapolis Man Turns Three Times In Chrysler

Donald Hart grain dealer of Indianapolis turned his Chrysler coupe three times just south of Marshall on Grand Turn Road Wednesday evening March 7. He veered off the pavement into a ditch while trying to regain the slab. A passing motorist brought him to Dr. R A Mitchell at Marshall who treated bruises and scratches and kept him overnight. Hart was en route to Palestine when the accident happened and friends from Palestine came after him the next day. His car was a total wreck.

Mrs. Ruth McCormick to Speak in Illinois Towns

Ruth Hanna McCormick, Republican candidate for congressman at large from Illinois, will speak in Marshall at 2:00 PM at the court house following a 10:30 AM talk in Paris. She then proceeds to Casey for 3:30 PM, Greenup at 5:00 PM, and Neoga for a 7:30 PM meeting to close the day's program.

Casey voters approved a new North side grade school by a four to one margin. The measure passed amid local civic support and will fund construction in Casey.
