Normandy fifth grader Billy Daniels thanked Congressman Charles Whalen for obtaining an American flag that flew over the Capitol in Washington, D. C. Whalen visited Normandy School on January 8 to present the flag during a 1:30 p.m. ceremony in the multi purpose room, with student musical performances and a pledge.

Owen Flowers reported an open house with over 650 attendees including businessmen and farmers who enjoyed a roasted chicken and potato dinner. Entertainment featured a John Deere Company movie. Five Small Fires Reported by City Fire Chief
Fire Chief Clayton Rhoad says five small fires occurred Sunday most were grass or brush fires. Rhoad lists locations including Weaver overpass near Mars Motel Foster Blizzard’s home and the former Henning farm area. Saturday saw a trash fire at Don Clouse’s home. Dwayne Hurst remains hospitalized at Union Hospital in room 222.

City Council Sets Runoff Election For March 14 1969
Mayor Wayne Pennell called a special council meeting on February 28 to discuss changes in municipal voting laws.
