The final Saturday night program of the summer is tomorrow at 7:30 PM sponsored by the Retail Merchants of Marshall. The stand program features baton twirling by Illinois State Champion Marjorie Richardson and Governor's cup holder plus tap numbers. A street dance follows at 9:00 PM, free to the public, with folding chairs encouraged.
The Clark County Fair runs August 4 to 9 with the Wilburn Brothers headlining Friday night August 9. The duo, praised by Cashbox Billboard and Country Song Roundup, are Grand Ole Opry regulars and Decca recording stars. Also on the bill are the Possum Holler Opry group led by Toby Dick Ellis, Miss Peaches Bennett, Al Harvey, and Johnny Bush with other TV and radio favorites.
Two sites for reservoirs are under study in Mill Creek conservation plans by the U S Department of Agriculture. Lincoln Lake, formerly Copper Cave, would sit on the Embarrass River with a Lincoln Heritage Trail crossing Fox Ridge and Lincoln Log Cabin state parks. A call to Judge Sunderman in Charleston at 10:00 a m yesterday regarding the Clark County contest for County Treasurer produced no information. The judge will be in his office this morning, Friday.
Clark County Federated Republican Woman's Club and Clark County Young Republican Club announce a picnic next Thursday at Rowe's Lake in Martinsville at 7 00 p m. Attendees should bring a covered dish and own service. ice tea and coffee provided. Also notes John Hanna of Clarksville has returned to Marshall Christian home after Paris Hospital stay and is slowly improving.

Mr and Mrs Arthur Claypool Marshall announce the engagement of their daughter Joyce Elaine to Sp James W Hoopingarner son of Mr and Mrs James W Hoopingarner Sr rural route 4 Marshall. Hoopingarner recently returned from Korea and will finish his tour of duty in Fort Collins Colorado. Clark County 4 H Show winners in Martinsville include grand champion steer James and reserve Nancy Cline with many named winners in Hereford Angus Shorthorn and other breeds.
Mr and Mrs Floyd Fitzgarrald welcome a son Gregory Dee born July 17 at Union Hospital Terre Haute weighing 7 lb 8 oz. The Turners of Highland Union have a son Gregg William born July 7 weighing 7 lb 6 oz. Mrs Turner is Lois Short. Arthur Kauffman and Dorothea Downs welcome daughter Judy Kelley born July 18 at Indianapolis Methodist Hospital. Woodrow Ferris and Martha Davis greet daughter Leann born July 21 at St Anthony Terre Haute weighing 5 lb 18 oz. Edgar Berner honors bride and groom Danny Wernz with a 6 pm dinner joined by family and friends.
Last Sunday a basket dinner was held at Big Creek bridge. Rev. Haley the minister Rev. Homer Haley at Cooper Chapel church received a silverware gift from church members. A bountiful dinner was enjoyed. In the afternoon a baptismal service was planned before departure next Sunday.
Joe Williams son of Mr and Mrs Woodford Williams of Marshall won top honors in the Clark county 4 H tractor drivers contest held Friday at the Martinsville Fair He will represent Clark county at the State contest at the state fair Dee Nelbarger of Marshall finished second Terry Bright of Martinsville third and Dale Burkybile of Casey placed fourth in the event.
Lightning struck a tree during a Wednesday night storm killing two Hereford heifers weighing 500 to 600 pounds at the Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Bohn farm seven miles south of Marshall.
National champion and WCLA marching band featured twirler led a group of attending twirlers who enjoyed the camp. They learned a great deal and performed with enthusiasm.
The Community Pool at Marshall hosts its annual summer skater ballet and deck show titled A Summer Fiesta next Sunday July 28 at 7:30 p.m. Roughly 100 boys and girls perform in 26 acts with lighting by Frank Cauldwell of Terre Haute. Guest stars Miss Sue Stoehr and Miss Teen-Age of Vigo County feature in two numbers. about 200 seats are reserved at $1.00 and general admission is 25 cents.
About 75 tractors competed in the Martinsville Ag Fair tractor pull held at the grandstand during the 18th annual event. Winners across three classes were Lightweight first Roy Downs, second Alan LeGrand, and others. Medium weight first John D. Thompson, second Robert Boyer, and more. Heavyweight first Ed Chandler, second Medford Wilson, with additional placings listed.
John Wesley Callahan 55 wed Opal Fay Mattox 85 both of West Terre Haute. Larry Eldin Earnest 26 of Newton Wheis married Patricia Joan Howe 25 of Casey Illinois. Wayne Reno Maurer 35 wed Virginia Lee Ferris 80 of Marshall. James Walter Hoppingarner Jr 27 of Marshall wed Joyce Elaine Claypool 22 of Marshall. Donald Edward Starkey 27 of Marshall married Barbara Jean Hutchens 22 of Marshall.
The Clark County 4-H livestock auction at the Martinsville Fair totaled 15,259.66 dollars with 50 steers 88 hogs and 12 lambs sold. Top prices included a $2 650 per cwt lamb and a $2775 per cwt Hereford steer while proceeds supported local 4-H activities and televised coverage.

Addie Hurst of 210 North Second Street in Marshall celebrated turning ninety on Tuesday July 23. Neighbors and friends visited her birthday, bringing presents and birthday cards she gratefully received.
The Clark County Fair in Marshall hosts a tractor pulling event Friday afternoon August 9 starting at 12 noon. Entry fee is five dollars with premiums totaling 800 dollars and four weight classes. Tractors are weighed between 7 and 9:30 am, with trophies awarded for first and second place in each class.
The Marshall Rotary Club installed new officers starting July 1. Robert Charles is president, Dale Huffington vice president, and Vaughn Arney secretary treasurer. The club praised past president Richard Ewbank for a solid year and expects continued success under Bob Charles.
James Raymond Buechler of 920 North Michigan Avenue Marshall received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago at commencement exercises held at Orchestra Hall on June 7. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Ray Buechler of Marshall.
Richard King a special agent for Country Insurance Companies in Clark County completed an advanced training school focused on property and casualty insurance. The program covered risk assessment policy design and claims handling to improve service and knowledge across the agency network.
