Temple R Lovett 69 of 402 N 4th St Marshall died Wednesday night at Burnside Home. Survived by wife Mary two daughters Anne Kile and Jean L Murphy of Marshall five grandchildren and two brothers Robert of Glendale Ohio and Charles A of Baldwin New York. He was former president of Region of Illinois Tourism lifetime member of Wa bash Valley Association international counselor of Lions Clubs and a member of Illinois Hearts at Moore Funeral Home.

Tragic drowning claims 16 year old in Marshall pond
A 16 year old rural Marshall youth drowned Monday in an apparent wading accident on a pond at Dr. Gene Stoelting’s farm Route 5 Marshall. He was absent swimming with his brother Darrell who could not reach him. Funeral services were held Thursday at Marrs Funeral Home officiated by Rev Kemp and Rev Daugherty.

Evans Family Killed in Sunday Crash Near Martinsville
Mr and Mrs Myles Evans of Route 1 West York and their children Loretta 16 Owen 12 died after a pickup crashed with a car driven by Raymond Tyhurst of Martinsville eight miles south of Martinsville Sunday afternoon. Mr Evans died en route to Crawford County Memorial Hospital. Mrs Evans died Monday morning. Funeral services were held Thursday at Bailiff Church with Rev John Conover officiating. Burial was in Bradbury Cemetery. Prust Hosch West Union Funeral Chapel handled arrangements.

Susan Hillington will speak at the State Fair on There Is A Career in Your Future with alternates Susan Welsh Patty Richards and Jeanette Morgan also scoring A ratings. Beth Williams earned a participation award for Why Americans Should Vote. Special thanks to local home advisers and soil conservation staff for judging. Over 190 foods projects and 15 general projects were displayed and judged for quality.

Forty years ago in 1926 a fire caused by back firing from a gasoline engine in a Diamond Petroleum Company warehouse at West Union destroyed storage tanks and the warehouse. The Marshall CCC Camp on Marshall Cemetery Association property at the north edge of Marshall is slated for demolition and relocation. Timber Rattler Killed In Dolson Township
Stan ley Davis drove a tractor near the Maggart place ten miles northwest of Marshall and ran over a 38 inch timber rattler crossing the road. The incident occurred Saturday noon. The following day Davis killed a 42 inch timber rattler on Elisha Claypool's property in Dolson township while hunting groundhogs.
