Rotary Holds Joint Meeting With Casey Rotary Club
The Marshall Rotary Club hosted twenty one Casey Rotary Club members for a joint meeting marking the Casey club's annual closing. A near record turnout of about thirty Marshall Rotarians enjoyed singing and dinner led by President Don Hosch. The event noted the death of Henry Lip’s son and highlighted international Rotary correspondence between District 649 and Venezuela and Mexico.

William Geekie of the Illinois Bureau of Economic Development will preside with attendees including civic groups industrial leaders business men city officials and union representatives. Dunn performed Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor with skill and then offered a Cantor favorite Makin Whoopee with a pleasing variation. Although a high school student, he shows promise as a masterful performer. The Rotary event thanked him for enhancing the evening.

Two State Patrolmen Stop Suspected Car At Rodeo Grounds
In 1926 Marshall officers chased a Chrysler touring car with three young men they suspected as thieves. After stopping near Elder Lee’s home they arrested the trio who gave names and addresses, uncovering about 3800 dollars hidden under a rear seat. Also from Marshall, Ernest Maurer and Joe Geheb headed to Nome Alaska after visiting Seattle.

Thirty years ago in 1936 Bill Beuhler suffered a painful accident while repairing a automobile headlight. The glass shattered and the resulting cut required three to four stitches from a physician. Marriage licenses issued for Cleo McNair and Virginia Fairchild and Wayne Eas ton with Virginia Shadely. A farm cow near Marshall bore triplet calves, two males and a female, all healthy. Eight year old Leonel Linn of Martinsville was found dead near railroad tracks Friday morning.

Polite Colonial Robbers Swipe Safe From Local Kitchen
Tuesday night intruders at the Colonial Kitchen on Route 40 northwest of Marshall took a money safe weighing about 180 pounds. They also borrowed Jeff Payne's car to haul the safe, later returning the vehicle before daylight. They stopped at Miller's gas station for gasoline.

A Sunday afternoon fire one mile east of Marshall on old US 40 burned three to four acres of George Corks wheat in his field and spread into Howard Kuhns field. Trees were scorched and investigators suspect a skyrocket started the blaze.
