Girl Drowned at Hutsonville July 4 Bathing Tragedy
A fatal drowning marred Hutsonville's Fourth of July celebration. Miss Mary Anderson of Robingon stepped into deep water below the ferry and disappeared. Her body was recovered about an hour later after swimmers searched the river.

Death of Edward Hughes Marks Marshall Loss of Key Citizen
Edward Hughes, a longtime Marshall merchant and community leader, died Monday at his home after a long cancer battle. Born 1843 in Evansville, he moved to Marshall in 1867, built a four floor business, and served in the Indiana militia during the war. He married Emma Duncan in 1868 and had three children and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s church with interment in the parish cemetery.
