Marie Wilser Lutz born in Germany January 9 1834 died Friday evening at her home on North Sixth Street after a long illness from Brights disease She was 0 years old seven children survive Joseph EB Mary Lutz Mrs Charles Taylor of Marshall David Clarksville Mrs John Setzer of Wabash Ind Mrs John Zeigler and Mrs Harry Wallace of Terre Haute Funeral services were held at the First Mr B church Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev Mr Davis She lived a devout Christian life and united with the M E church in Marshall after moving here in 1894 and remained faithful until death The revival meetings at the Methodist church have drawn a large congregation with many converts and continued for another week at least People from other churches are welcome to attend.

The State Charities Commission reports condemn the jails in Miners and criticizes prisoner treatment. Only ten jails are in good sanitary condition. most have not improved in forty years. Clark County jail’s inclusion is likely, though the county no longer uses a jail much.

Promised Dollar Gift After Son Reaches Majority

Joseph Williams of Anderson township gave his son Hoscoe a promised hundred dollars on his 21st birthday if he avoided the saloon before then. The son reached his majority Monday and received the money plus better prospects than any “sport” path. The account also recalls a crowded event with music and church talk including references to Washington and religious services in Alexandria and Philadelphia.

Vermilion County Grand Jury Indicts 216

The Vermilion county grand jury returned 216 indictments last Friday. After voting most of the day the panel gave a partial report to Judge Kimbrough around 8 pm and retired for further deliberations. It is not yet known how many indictments target vote sellers and perfurers. Names become learnable only after bench warrants are issued and served.

Obituary of Silas W Crigler of Indiana and Nebraska

Silas W Crigler born August 21 183? Fay ette county Indiana died February 6 1911 aged 79 6 15. He married Mary Jane Holland December 12 1849. One son Edwin and one daughter Lota survived with 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He lived much of his life in Clark County Indiana then Nebraska five years and returned to live with his daughters Laura Morgan and Lulu Thomson until death. He joined Island Grove Baptist Church in 1866 serving as clerk superintendent Sabbath school teacher and deacon for over 35 years. He leaves a large family and many friends, prayers for eternal gain per divine words.

Mrs Eva Weinbold died last night at the home of Mrs Daward English in North Side City. She was born November 1, 1882, and after moving to Marshall where her husband died in 1874 she spent the last years at the home of relatives. The obituary notes her long residence and family ties.

Case in the circuit court alleges negligence by the DuPont Powder Company at Casey allowing unsafe access. Plaintiff Cartwright, an eleven year old boy, injured when a Gyvemite cap exploded, losing a thumb and three fingers and injuring his eye and chest.
