Betty Crocker Award winner Hazel Yeley of Marshall High

Hazel Elaine Yeley, Marshall High School senior, won the 1967 Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow award after scoring top on a December 6 written knowledge and attitude test. She receives a silver charm from General Mills as state judges pick a State Homemaker of Tomorrow. Hazel, daughter of Mr and Mrs John Yeley, plans to study Home Economics at Southern Illinois University and has been active in Fep Club Future Teachers and 4-H.

Needed Families for Foster Children in Clark County

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services seeks foster parents in Clark County to care for abandoned and abused children from babies to teens. Marshall students sponsor fitness program and board notes

Clark county schools sponsor a 1 pm fitness program at Marshall high gym on February 1 to highlight fitness in education with activities, points, and trophies. Administrators met at Martinsville the same day to discuss a county testing program, Title I, and the 1967-68 school calendar.

Marriage of Jennie Gorchin to Granville Brosman announced

Thirty years ago in 1937 Mr and Mrs A Gorchin of Hammond Indiana announce the marriage of their daughter Jennie to Granville Brosman son of Mr and Mrs F M Brosman of Robinson Illinois on January 30 1937 The Brosmans formerly were Marshall residents. The river is near its banks and residents who left backwater areas can return home after flood conditions subsided.

PTA Chili Supper at High School February 9

The annual PTA chili supper will be held February 9 in the high school cafeteria. The menu includes chili sandwiches cake pie coffee milk and soft drinks. Grades prepare white elephant gifts beans tomato juice and money with delivery by February 7 and event activities begin at 6 pm followed by basketball games and a 7 30 pm program.

William St John 93 of West Union died Tuesday morning in St Anthony Hospital Terre Haute. He was survived by three daughters Clada Cannady Myrtle Misner and Agnes Richardson three sons Claude George and Leland 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Short funeral services were held Thursday at Prust Hosch Funeral Chapel and Harmony Church north of Greenup with Rev Lee Guyer officiating. Burial in Harmony Cemetery.
