Mary Johnston and the Dobbs marriage affair tale
In a melodramatic family saga, Mary learns her mother Polly Johnston married Claude Melnette Dobbs for money after a lopsided courtship. Polly admits fear of Claude’s influence, while Mary forgives her mother and suspects her father’s hidden wealth may shape future plans as they prepare to sail away.
