President Coolidge, citing government sources, believes 1927 will be a banner year as prosperity continues. He notes rising employment in New York and Pennsylvania, strong capital for manufacturing, plentiful production, and high wages driving consumption while railroads and new equipment support growth.
Community notices a Lyceum series at the high school with Tuesday evening events. Plans include a business talk and a reading of texts, with admission details and dates to be announced.
Miss Lucille Stafford daughter of Mrs Grace Stafford of Perte-Haltt wed Benny Allen Wallis son of Mr and Mrs Allen Wallis of Marshall at noon New Year’s Day. Rev Clark S Thomas officiated before immediate family. Maid of honor was Josephine Kuhn of Terre Haute and best man Robert Russell of Terre Haute. They plan a trip east then home in Anderson Indiana after January 7. Miss Stafford worked in millinery at James Wolf Company Terre Haute for three years. The groom works for S W Strouse Company Bonds and Investments Chicago for nearly three years.
Announcement of the marriage of Robert Bane son of Mr and Mrs C HL Bane of Kansas to Beulah Stormo of Windsor. The ceremony took place in Williamsport Indiana on November 24.
The Clark county unit of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association held a reorganization and officer election in the American Legion room Saturday. Ralph Davis of Martinsville was elected president and C. E. Kennedy of Casey was reelected secretary and treasurer.
Floyd NeSmith of Kentucky was arrested by Policeman J. W. Wallace Sunday for violating a stop and go sign and was fined 590 dollars plus costs in Squire Tom Craig's court.
The Mid-Continent Oil Company leases the John Tumey property at the highway intersection for seven and a half years. The house on the site will be moved and a filling station erected soon, with Mr. Tumey in charge of the station. New circuit court cases include Gard vs Connelly, McGee vs Feigen on appeal, Carrs vs Comer on appeal, and Musselman vs Burnside in partition.

About 150 attendees witnessed a joint installation of Masons and Eastern Star officers on Wednesday. Visitors from West Union and Terre Haute. The Star officers include W B Cork as matron and R L Hunt as patron among others. Masons led by C M Rubeck. Marshall will meet Westfield in the Clark county tournament with games set for Thursday and Friday nights in Marshall.
Dr R L Davison escaped unhurt when his car exploded and caught fire Saturday. The blast damaged the car and set the garage ablaze, which was quickly extinguished leaving the vehicle ruined.

At the Marshall city council meeting Monday night the franchise for Central Dumvns Public Service to string high voltage lines was recalled due to missing provisions. City officers also reviewed Lincoln Oil Refining plans to build a filling station on the Shaw property with sidewalk changes and building details approved.

Harold Benjamin of Terre Haute and Ruth Wyrick of Marshall were married on Monday in the parlors of the Black hotel. Rev. D. T. Black conducted the ceremony.
