City Council OKs zoning change and sewer contract extensions
City Board met December 7 with all aldermen present. An ordinance re zoning Gene Smitley and Charles Bush from B-1 to B-1 passed the zoning committee and was up for council approval. Extensions were granted for Elton Wagner's sewer contract to December 22 1967 due to delays. a 30 day extension was approved with costs paid if funds allow. The Marshall Community Schools board met December 14 and reviewed the 1966 67 treasurer’s report, audit findings, and expenditures totaling 965 805 80 with salaries at 75.6 percent. Educational fund costs were 783 183 45 with salary share at 81 percent. The board approved distributing the audit explanation to staff and discussed 1967 68 receipts and expenditures, salary welfare considerations, and potential consolidation studies in Clark County. They set levy limits and approved investing idle funds in short term treasury bills and insuring district properties with bid proposals pending.

Allen Goekler Injured in Marshall Motorcycle Crash
Allen Goekler, son of Mr and Mrs Ralph Goekler, was injured Tuesday night in Marshall while riding a motorcycle. He was taken to Dr Mitchell's office and then rushed to Union Hospital in Terre Haute for treatment. By Thursday at 4 00 p m he had shown no improvement.

School Board Sets Transfers and Holiday Schedule for 1968
The board moves $15000 from the Fiducation Fund to the Transportation Fund due to tax shortfalls and state reimbursement delays. A Christmas choir concert is planned in the high school gym at 7 30 pm Thursday with Martha Jane Dobson directing the girls chorus and Jam Gn directing the mixed chorus. An extra home basketball game against Cumberland is added for Friday December 22 with JV at 6 30 and varsity around 8 15. Christmas vacation begins December 22 at 2 pm and resumes January 2.
