Paroled youth Craig rearrested after parole violation

Craig, who stole a bicycle at Casey and was sent to Ponca City reform school, violated parole by skipping reports and went to Marshall last Friday where Sheriff Gallatin arrested him and returned him to the school. While awaiting trial he attempted suicide by hanging in his cell.

Oil firm quits under Standard Oil reorganization

Under Standard Oil's reorganization the Seep Purchasing Agency is dissolved. Ohio Oil Co. will buy oil in Illinois Indiana and Ohio and care for all producers. Last week 41 completions in Illinois fields: Crawford 12 Lawrence 17 Clinton 6 Marion 4 Clark 2 totaling 3005 barrels.

Old Citizen Goeckler Dies at 84 in Douglas Township

Christian Goeckler died yesterday at his home in Douglas township after a long illness aged 84. One of the county’s oldest residents he had been nearly blind and homebound for years. Survived by four sons and one daughter. Funeral at Clarksville Baptist church tomorrow at 10 o'clock.

Hog cholera or similar epidemic sweeps Clark county with heavy losses. A farmer near Walnut Prairie reports 75 hogs killed and others suffer substantial casualties across two or three sections.

Joe Layton and Hurley Huey were arraigned before Esquire Craig on burglary charges. Huey was released after insufficient evidence. Layton waived preliminary hearing and remained jailed in default of bail.

Death of Flora Eunice Holler Died in Anderson Township

Flora Eunice Holler youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs John Holler died last Wednesday at age 37 years 5 months 13 days after a prolonged illness. Born July 6 1874 in Anderson township she lived there all her life and was a devout Evangelical church member. She leaves a widowed mother aged over 82 a brother and six sisters and numerous relatives. Funeral services were held at her home conducted by Rev I H Griesemer with many friends attending and the remains interred in Marshall cemetery.

Miss Nettle Beecham Fatal Lamp Accident

Terre Haute young woman Miss Nettle Beecham died Friday after slipping while descending stairs with a lighted oil lamp. Her dress ignited, flames spread across her face and head, and she could not escape the blaze before help arrived. She was preparing for marriage that evening.
