Christmas windows dazzle Marshall shoppers with festive displays

Merchants across Marshall showcase elaborate Christmas windows to draw trade. Harold Luse’s Gift Shop features a model electric train and snow covered scenery. Cole Bros displays a high tree with silverware and kodaks. American Restaurant and others show trees, candy boxes, and festive props.

Special Christmas Meeting at Congregational Church

A Christmas service is set for Sunday at 4 PM at the Congregational church with a male-voice double quartet. Rev G G Ross will give a short address on The Manger More Than a Christmas Sentiment. A festive window display features Santa Claus and gifts from local merchants around Marshall. A community Christmas tree will be lit at Sixth and Wain streets by the Chamber of Commerce with decorations by local women.

Joint Agriculture Program at Martinsville Last Night

A joint agricultural club program started at 7 15 p m in Martinsville featuring two reels of films Beekeeping With Sweet Clover in Clark County and Lazy Jane and Vose plus My Dairy Project Jig Dance How Topped the Chicago Lamb Market and Music by Martinsville Ag Club A talk by W J Spittler district state leader of farm advisers and Farm Accounts by Worth W Merritt Refreshments followed. Attended by agricultural students former students and their fathers.

At tomb is County Park Bureateam yesterday the Farm Bureau held its annual gathering. WET Smith from the University of Illinois spoke in the morning. Man Arrested For Intoxication In Church

Ernest Bays was arrested Tuesday on a charge of intoxication and disturbing church service at the United Brethren Church and fined 210 and costs by Squire Craig.

Man Found on Track Identified as Indiana Husband

A train crew found a man dead on the track near Liggett on the Pennsylvania line and brought him to Marshall where he died. Identified Saturday by Mrs Win Yost of Universal Indiana as her husband who had left to borrow a post hole digger. The man had a past head injury and periods of dementia. The body was taken to Clinton Indiana for burial.

Annual Rabbit Supper for Red Men on Monday Night

The Red Men will host their annual rabbit supper on Monday night at the usual hall. An adoption degree will be conferred on several candidates before the meal. Attendees are asked to bring rabbits or a chicken if possible.

Man Suffers Stroke During Telephone Call

W A Williams had a stroke of paralysis while talking on the telephone Monday and was taken to his home on West Main Street where he is confined to his bed.

Street Fighers Brought Before Justice Of Peace

Clay Morgan and Russell Hill were involved in a street fight Saturday. Police constable Chas Short arrested them and they appeared before Squire Craig. Morgan was fined three dollars plus costs. Hill was discharged.

Martinsville Man Shoots Self After Morning Farm Tasks

Gilbert Newman aged about 65 resided one mile south of Martinsville. After feeding stock he gave his son a Christmas gift of $10 then went to a smokehouse where he killed himself between 8 and 9 am. Local authorities report the incident near the Martinsville area.
