The barn measures 60 by 40 feet and 60 feet high, built of hard paving brick with a slate roof. The hay mow on the third floor holds about 200 tons of loose hay, the second floor offers a driveway and stores over 100 tons of grain, and the first floor stables 40 head of horses and cattle with concrete floors and mangers. A feed grinder and corn shallers on the second floor and water supply complete the farm structure, costing a little over $4,000 and praised as a lasting benefit to the owner and the community.

Rural mail carriers in service from July 1914 to 1915 received checks last Friday to cover the difference between their actual year’s pay and the fixed $1200 annual salary. Local carriers averaged about $80 per check.
