Board Grants Traction Franchise and Reelects Contractor

The Clark County Board of Supervisors held a busy two day session granting a traction franchise to Spring Held and Central Unions Traction Company. They reset the poor contract to John Cole at two dollars per week and selected the first grand jury. A resolution condemning D B Miller for accusing Clark county officials of election frauds was adopted with one dissent. The board approved many claims and settled disputes over ballot printing. The traction line should be completed within two years running through the county toward Decatur and Springfield, with a second line from Marshall northwest to Decatur.
