The Clermont hotel becomes the scene of a sudden death. Edith Challoner, heiress and daughter of Moses Challoner, collapses on the mezzanine amid a crowded reception. Her doctor and the coroner await further findings as the investigation begins.
Hon H C Bell reports from Washington that Seth Dix of Hutsonville Clark County was granted a full pardon by Acting Governor Leighton of Montana after a long mercy process. Dix had been imprisoned since 1900 for killing Ben Davis a roadhouse keeper near Billings in self defense. He had shown good time and worked on roads in the mountains, with Bell credited for his role in securing the pardon.
Mrs Walter Turman presided over a Monday afternoon musicale for the Walter Burdick Chapter and a few friends. The program featured Mary Miller, Mary Cole, Esther Hurst, Ethel Hurst, and others in solos readings and duets. A basement visit followed with a browse of film listings and a Brussels carpet item noted among cataloged pictures.
Marshall residents gathered at United Brethren church for Thanksgiving Day services led by Rev. D D Burt. A charity collection supported city churches for needy causes as the sermon praised American ideals, Pilgrim origins, and the nation’s constitutional progress, with notes on diverse European roots and shared culture.
A Marshall man captured the Prof. H. E. Smith prize earning five hundred dollars in this year’s contest. The winner stood out among several entrants, with judges citing his clear method and sharp reasoning.

The wedding took place at 6 30 p m on Wednesday November 37 at the bride’s sister Mrs Roy A Smith home in Indianapolis. Miss Goeckler is daughter of the late Christian and Louise Goeckler of north of Marshall. The groom is a farmer from Larwin township. The couple will reside near Marshall after a visit to Chicago.
Frank and Belle Weaver Foster greet a girl and Otho and Goldie Davis welcome a girl. James and Elsie Davis have a boy, as do Wiley and Maud Philippi. Chas Hartman and Alpha Mabel Hartman have a boy, with Chas Freeman and Maggie Freeman's couple also reporting a boy. Additional births include Paul E Davis's boy and John Duniapp's girl, Greely Brown's boy, Hurley Welsh's girl, Deverick's girls, John McKutcheon’s girl, James Docan’s boy, Wm Sinclair’s girl, Frank Callahan’s boy, and Buche’s girl.
