Mules Escaped to Farm Near Paris and County Barter Plans
In days gone by a team of mules belonging to Bessner and Marvin ran away as they were to be hitched to a delivery wagon by John Clatfelter. They were found at Mr. Lycan’s farm near Paris where raised. The Board of Supervisors instructed the county treasurer to arrange with the bank to cash county orders as funds run out and pay interest on the loan at eighty percent. They tabled D J Davidson’s bid to fence the courthouse yard for 1650 with iron gates and to wait two years for the money. The committee on the courthouse bell reported purchasing a 1200 pound bell for 380, with 280 paid by the county and 100 by the city of Marshall.
