The court granted Beulah Newlin a divorce from Aden Newlin with a property settlement approved and her maiden name Beulah Monroe restored. Margaret Dill was granted a divorce from William Dill with alimony and dower barred and her maiden name Margaret Mansholtz restored. The master-in-chancery and state’s attorney filed reports. The Stewart v. Simpson case was heard with the motion to strike the answer debated and taken under advisement.
John Edward Clatfelter age 20 of West Union was accidentally killed Wednesday evening at his home west of West York. He reportedly bumped the car steering causing a gun to discharge. He was found by two neighbors and rushed to Greer Hospital Robinson where he died. Survived by parents Mr and Mrs Harold Clatfelter two brothers Fred and Hal one sister Jones and grandparents Mr and Mrs Ed Clatfelter and Mrs Bessie Davidson.
Annual drive underway with tag day on Saturday to fund U S C O projects. Volunteers will canvass the business district for donations and canned or frozen foods for Christmas distribution. Monetary gifts stay in the community. goal set at $2000 with pickup service offered for frozen foods and meat.

A dinner party was held by Miss Frances Ona and Miss Frozzie Bartlett near Weston.
Ten senior girls including Nadine Gamma participated in the Betty Crocker Search for the Homemaker of Tomorrow preliminary exam. The highest ranking participant will earn the Home Maker of Tomorrow pin and eligibility for two state scholarships. Phyllis Quick Shirley O Rourke Judith Kirchner Wanda Kuehner Judith Kannmacher Linda Kannmacher Sue Sumption June Norton and Charlotte Ferris also competed. Nadine aims to be a nurse and is active in science club and 4 H work.
