Martha Chaney Denehie formerly of the Marshall vicinity died Tuesday afternoon November 26 in Ashville North Carolina. She is survived by one son Robert Denehie of Orlando Florida and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Dunn and Williams Funeral Home in Ashville Friday afternoon of last week. Mr and Mrs Claude Fox left yesterday for Truth or Consequences New Mexico to spend the winter and will visit their daughter Mrs Lindell Barnes in Enid Oklahoma. Mrs Mary Shade is at the Burnside Nursing Home.

Forty years ago in 1923 the Casey high school alumni held their first homecoming in the high school gym. A brief program featured vocal solos and an alumni history by Miss Annett Emrich followed by games and refreshments. Fred Shotts, 54, died Monday, services today at 2 PM at his sister Mrs. Lena McKenzie's home with burial in Marshall cemetery. The county spelling contest Friday in the court room saw Miss Dorothy St Johns of Martinsville win with a perfect score and a gold medal.

The Lions improved to 2 0 with a 67 49 victory over Hutsonville Tangers. Larry Gardner scored 21 points and Mike Shonk 16 as Lions built a 12 8 first quarter lead and stayed ahead.
