The 1964 Marshall High School Alumni Association banquet drew 238 alumni and friends on Wednesday. Fred Gard, president, acted as master of ceremonies and introduced Dr. George Mitchell and Charlies Bush. John Lewis received a plaque honoring his service as Speaker of the House 1963-64.

Harold Cooper of Martinsville Illinois purchased a Hereford bull named B B Beau Lamp 9th at a sale in Caimi Illinois last March. The 5 year old, about 2100 pound top selling and reserved champion bull was sired by Jr Modest Lamp 4th. Cooper bought the interest from Claude Stone of Sullivan Illinois last week.

Murphy lease sale tops Oil Circles near St Francisville
The Murphy lease near St Francisville was sold to The Ohio Oil Company for a price near 150000 dollars. The deal was divided five ways with A. E. Lloyd, Charles Guthrie, and Ray Henley receiving one quarter each and Dan Boggs and Art Rodgers each getting one eighth. Thanksgiving was observed at the Chapman home in Orange township with a quiet marriage between Myrtle Chapman and Homer Shanks. The Future Homemakers of America held their third Daddy Date Night on November 12 in Marshall. Mrs. James Claypool and Mrs. Herbert Sheffner received red rose corsages. Daughters presented their fathers with “Best Dad in the World” trophies. The Marshall Beattles, including Vera Bennett June Norton Alice Titus and Mica Merryman, performed two songs. The event concluded with new member initiation.
