Cancer Causes Death of John Serwise in Anderson Township
Coroner Haslitt found John Serwise died from natural causes after cancer of the left hand eroded an artery in the wrist Friday night and bled in bed. He was 67, survived by six children, and had been married three times. Funeral services were held at Craig Chapel Sunday led by Rev John Craig.

Death of W H Harris York township prominent resident
W H Harris died at his home north of the Brick church Saturday evening after a long kidney illness. Born January 19, 1844 in Butler County Ohio, he learned blacksmithing and served in the First Missouri cavalry during the Civil War. He married Elizabeth Blocks om March 6, 1865 and was active in Methodist church and Democratic politics. He served as supervisor in Martinsville and York townships and held a government post in Washington D C during the Cleveland administration.
