Margaretta Fawyer Carpenter died August 16 near Darwin after a long illness. Funeral services were led by Rev. J. C. Craig and interment was at Brick Cemetery. Born in Snyder MI on August 6 1890 she married Ernest Carpenter December 26 1911 and leaves two sons Kenneth and Woodrow, plus brothers John and Jacob Fawyer sister Sarah Myles and half sister Rebecca Osborn of Arkansas.

Church Marks Seventy Fifth Jubilee in Livingston
The Livingston Methodist Episcopal Church commemorates its seventy fifth anniversary with the old brick building still standing and in good condition. The 1841 construction followed a log church, weathered storms, tornados, and remodelings that gave the structure its familiar form. Lightning Strikes Church Barn and Store Causing Damage
A Monday afternoon thunderstorm brought lightning to West Union striking the Christian church and causing substantial damage. At noon yesterday lightning hit Ed Sauter’s farm barn two miles southeast of town, igniting a fire that destroyed the barn and its contents. The Miller store in Martinsville was struck and burned slightly with minor damage.

Jealousy Sparks Fatal Shootout at Eaton Home
Deputy clerk James T. Gallagher was killed by Adam Eaton in Terre Haute after a Friday night quarrel. Eaton claimed self defense, but coroner's inquest led to murder charges. Gallagher left a 14 year old son, wife dead years earlier, and Gallagher was a longtime Douglas township farmer and deputy clerk.
