Water trouble at Marshall oil well halts flow
Thirty years after a water intrusion began at the oil well northwest of Marshall, workers pressed cement to stop the seepage on a Wednesday. In related court action, Judge Co A Williams declared Gerald Lula Lorene and Stella Groves, ages three to eleven, dependent children after their parents James and unknown Groves bodies were found north of the Pennsylvania depot weeks earlier. They were sent to Carmi Baptist Orphanage in Carmi Illinois. Mr and Mrs Porter Casteel and daughter Mary Louise returned from Gillette Wyoming after visiting uncle Harry Casteel.

Friday night last week the Charles Kemp family from Marshall was in a Route One collision near Ernst with a southbound Harvey Mi car. Mrs Kemp and four year old Laura Lee suffered serious injuries including facial lacerations and a severed nose tip. Ted nine, broke his nose. Charles Kemp, Patricia Christine, and Charles Robert were not hospitalized. All released from Union Hospital. Laura Lee to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis for further care.
